Towable Mower behind our Polaris RANGER XP 900

Mowing tall pasture grass with our RANGER XP 900 and Rough Cut Mower
Spring is here in a big way and that means our pasture grows like crazy! We've been using our Kunz AcrEase Rough Cut Field Mower for a few years now.  It continues to amaze us with its ability to mow through tall/thick grass.  We decided to see how our 2013 Polaris RANGER XP 900 would do towing the mower and we are thrilled with the results.  Our RANGER is stock other than the Pit Bull Tires mounted up on No Limit wheels.  Plus we have added PURE Polaris windshield and roof.

The RANGER has plenty of power to pull the mower, even uphill with sloppy mud in our path. In the dry areas, we prefer to put the 4-wheel-drive selector in one-wheel-drive and this make tight turns a breeze. When in 4-wheel-drive, the vehicle pushes more in the turns and definitely increases the turning radius.

When moving slow like this and towing the mower, overheating is a concern. With no ram air, the radiator is solely dependent on the fan to keeps temperatures in check and the RANGER XP 900 handled it perfect.

Our mower is a Kunz Engineering MR55B Rough Cut model with 57" cutting width, electric start engine, manual clutch engagement and powered by a large 23 HP Briggs & Stratton Intek Twin Cylinder Engine.
Although we primarily use the RANGER XP 900 for work, we did slap a set of paddle tires on it and travel out to Sand Mountain last Fall. You can read all about that at RANGER XP 900 Takes on the Dunes.
